Doña Mary Dirlam was the Director and creator of the Richard T. Liddicoat Gemological Library and Information Center at the GIA in Carlsbad, California. Society of Great Britain.With GIA’s support, she built the largest gem and jewelry library in existence. She received GIA’s highest honor, the Richard T. Liddicoat Award for Distinguished Achievement, as well as several life-time achievement awards. 


Doña joined the Church in Ocean Park in 1981 through the encouragement of Frances Dean Smith (francEyE). She attended regularly under the ministry of Reverends Jim Conn, Sandie Richards, and Janet McKeithen until she moved from Santa Monica to Carlsbad. She has been chair of the Board and Board member and also on the Finance Committee. Through her decades with the church, she has helped organize and lead with her church community many programs and fundraising efforts such as Communitas, Breaking Bread, poetry readings, women’s spirituality gatherings, and annual church camping trips to Joshua Tree, Idyllwild, and Catalina. Doña received the Communitas Award in 2008.
